In the aftermath of a tragic stampede that resulted in three fatalities, Odisha's administration is taking action to ensure the smooth continuation of the Rath Yatra festival. The incident occurred near Shree Gundicha Temple, prompting Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to issue a public apology and commit to enhanced safety protocols.
To manage the remaining rituals, former DGP and CM advisor Prakash Mishra has been deployed to Puri. With an experienced team, including ADG Soumendra Priyadarshi, the government is aiming to maintain order during high-attendance events like the return car festival and Suna Besha.
Developments show a proactive approach, as new officials oversee security arrangements. State government representatives emphasize their commitment to preventing future incidents and ensuring the safety of thousands of devotees flocking to Puri. A comprehensive inquiry into the causes of the stampede is also underway.
