In a sharp rebuke, AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal has lambasted the Censor Board for denying certification to the film 'Janaki Vs State of Kerala'. He also criticized Union Minister Suresh Gopi, who stars in the film, for remaining silent on the matter.
The controversy centers around the use of the name 'Janaki'—another name for Goddess Sita—as the lead character, which has purportedly led to the film's certification blockage. Venugopal argues that such actions undermine constitutional freedoms of artistic expression.
He accuses the Censor Board of compromising artistic liberties and demands clarity from the central government. The Kerala High Court will review the film before making a decision on the name 'Janaki'.
