In a significant development in the investigation of actor Matthew Perry's tragic overdose death, Dr. Salvador Plasencia is set to plead guilty to charges of distributing ketamine. This move comes as part of a plea agreement that could spare Plasencia a 40-year maximum sentence.
Dr. Plasencia will be the fourth out of five individuals connected with the case to enter a guilty plea. Despite initially pleading not guilty, he has agreed to plead guilty to four counts of distributing ketamine. In exchange, prosecutors will drop several other charges against him.
The case highlights the dangers of off-label drug use and illicit drug distribution, underscored by Perry's long-standing battle with addiction. While Plasencia awaits sentencing, the court is set to hear the case against the remaining defendant, Jasveen Sangha, alleged to have sold Perry the lethal dose.
