In a significant stride towards wildlife conservation, Madhya Pradesh has reported an increase in its wild animal population, including tigers, according to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. The state has positioned itself as a robust hub for the conservation and effective management of wildlife, with nine tiger reserves bolstering its efforts.
Speaking at the 'International Tiger Day' event at Kushabhau Thackeray Convention Centre, Yadav celebrated Madhya Pradesh's recognition as a 'tiger state.' He attributed the thriving wildlife to relentless efforts by the forest department, which have not only enabled animal population growth but also strengthened the ecosystem and promoted tourism.
Yadav highlighted plans for new conservation projects, including the development of two wildlife zoos and rescue centers in Ujjain and Jabalpur. The state recently declared Ratapani as its eighth tiger reserve, further solidifying its commitment to wildlife preservation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
