Birmingham, the 'home of metal,' is preparing to pay tribute to one of its iconic figures, Ozzy Osbourne. Thousands of Black Sabbath fans are expected to line the streets on Wednesday to farewell their beloved frontman. Osbourne, who died last Tuesday at the age of 76, will have his hearse travel down Broad Street to the Black Sabbath bench.
The hearse will be followed by a live brass band, with family members observing the cortege. Osbourne, famed as the 'Prince of Darkness,' was a pivotal figure in popularizing heavy metal. His antics both on and off the stage became legendary during Sabbath's peak in the 1970s.
As Birmingham mourns, they also celebrate Osbourne's legacy with Black Sabbath's recognition as one of the greatest metal bands, having sold over 75 million albums. Osbourne's contribution both with the band and solo, along with his reality show in the 2000s, endeared him to fans across generations.
