Legal Battle Looms for Film Inspired by Yogi Adityanath

The makers of 'Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi,' a film drawing inspiration from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's life, have approached the Bombay High Court to contest the denial of certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Neela Gokhale have agreed to hear the plea, questioning the CBFC's rationale, particularly when the book the film is based on has been publicly available for eight years. The court asked for clarity on how the film could disrupt public order when the book did not.

Represented by advocates Aseem Naphade, Satatya Anand, and Nikhil Aradhe, the filmmakers accused the CBFC of rejecting their applications without viewing the film. Despite an earlier assurance to the court, the board delayed its decision, prompting the fresh plea challenging this recent judgment.
