The Chinar Book Festival is set to kick off its second edition on Saturday, with more than 200 publishers from across the nation participating in the nine-day extravaganza.
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and J-K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will inaugurate the event at SKICC, overlooking Dal Lake. Organized by the National Book Trust, this year's festival promises an even more expansive celebration of literature.
With diverse events and the participation of new literary voices, the fair aims to invigorate the reading culture and provide a vibrant platform for dialogue, discovery, and community engagement. A major highlight is the Tamil-Kashmiri Samvad, focusing on shared traditions under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, while workshops and panel discussions will delve into Kashmir's rich cultural history.
