In a momentous evening for the Indian film industry, Shah Rukh Khan clinched his inaugural National Film Award for Best Actor, sharing the accolade with Vikrant Massey for their stellar performances in 'Jawan' and '12th Fail', respectively.
The awards, announced by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, also celebrated Rani Mukerji as Best Actress for 'Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway'. The movie '12th Fail', helmed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, was honored as the Best Feature Film.
Sudipto Sen received the Best Director award for 'The Kerala Story', while Karan Johar's 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani' was named Best Popular Film for wholesome entertainment. Additionally, Meghna Gulzar's 'Sam Bahadur' garnered recognition for its national, social, and environmental impact, along with accolades for costume and make-up.
