Sarojini Nagar saw a significant gathering of women on Friday, brandishing tricolour and saffron flags in a protest led by BJP MLA Rajeshwar Singh. The demonstration was a response to derogatory comments made by cleric Maulana Sajid Rashidi about SP MP Dimple Yadav's attire.
The protest, themed 'Nari Samman Hi Rashtra Samman Hai', highlighted the participants' call for respect towards women's dignity and Indian cultural values. Singh, addressing the crowd, emphasized that insults against women are attacks on the nation, and criticized both the derogatory remarks and the ensuing silence from opposition leaders.
Singh drew attention to the importance of resisting ideologies that undermine women's roles and cultural attire in India. Comparing the situation to the Taliban's actions in Afghanistan, he stated that India will not tolerate similar oppressive mindsets. BJP officials also put up posters attacking Akhilesh Yadav for his silence on the issue.
