The Madras High Court has intervened in the controversy surrounding the Tamil film 'Kingdom' after receiving a petition from SSI Production. The petition requests police protection to ensure the uninterrupted screening of the movie.

The case was heard by Justice D Bharatha Chakravarthy, who authorized formal notices to Seeman, Chief Coordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi, and the police authorities in Chennai and Coimbatore. The film, featuring lead actor Vijay Deverakonda, has been certified for public viewing by the CBFC.

Seeman publicly opposed the movie, citing derogatory portrayal of the Tamil Eelam issue, and threatened actions to stop its release, leading to fear among theatre owners. The court will discuss the petition further on August 7.
