The pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, located atop Trikuta hills in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district, is set to resume on Wednesday, contingent on favorable weather conditions, according to the shrine board. The suspension occurred on August 26 following a significant landslide, which claimed the lives of 34 pilgrims and injured 20 others.

The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) announced in a post on X that the pilgrimage would recommence on September 17, 2025, urging devotees to stay informed through official channels. The decision to resume came after pilgrims at the Katra base camp protested for the yatra's resumption.

Previously, the shrine board had planned to restart the pilgrimage on September 14, but continuous rains extended the suspension, sparking protests by frustrated devotees. These pilgrims made multiple attempts to bypass the security restrictions and undertake the pilgrimage despite the board's directives.
