Bollywood icon Deepika Padukone has stepped away from the sequel of the Telugu hit 'Kalki 2898 AD'. The film's producers announced the development, highlighting that her departure was due to an inability to reach a collaborative agreement, along with the project's demanding requirements.

The studio, Vyjayanthi Movies, shared the news on social media platform X, citing that the project necessitates significant commitment. The original film, directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan, was a massive box office success.

Set in a dystopian world and inspired by Hindu scriptures, 'Kalki 2898 AD' was the first instalment in a planned cinematic universe. Following Deepika's exit, discussions have arisen regarding flexible working hours for actors, a conversation reignited by her reported departure from 'Spirit', another project alongside Prabhas.
