Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav commemorated the 168th martyrdom day of freedom fighters Raja Shankar Shah and his son Kunwar Raghunath Shah, highlighting their sacrifices for the swadeshi cause. Speaking at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Convention Centre, Yadav honored their resistance against British colonial rule.
The father-son duo, rulers in Gondwana, were executed by the British during the 1857 uprising for their unwavering belief in self-governance. Yadav noted their rebellion through poetry and songs, which inspired others to resist colonial forces and protect their homeland.
Yadav also promoted the adoption of swadeshi goods, citing women's self-help groups as examples of economic independence, aligning with Prime Minister Modi's national campaign for self-reliance. The tribute included a call to embrace indigenous products as a path to a developed India.
