Renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, 52, passed away in Singapore on Friday after a tragic scuba diving accident. Organizers of a festival in the city-state confirmed the news, leaving a nation in mourning for the beloved musician.
Garg was participating in the North East Festival when he experienced breathing difficulties while diving. Despite immediate CPR and rush to Singapore General Hospital, he could not be saved, confirming the news at around 2.30 pm IST.
Leaders, including Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressed profound grief over the loss of "one of Assam's favorite sons." Garg, celebrated for his musical prowess and connection with people, leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations.
