Veteran actor Nana Patekar, often revered for his impactful cinema roles, extended his compassion beyond the screen by meeting victims of Pakistani shelling in Poonch and Rajouri on Monday. In a heartwarming gesture, Patekar distributed relief materials via his NGO, Nirmala Gajanan Foundation, aiding families impacted by the Operation Sindoor retaliation.
The actor, remembered for his portrayal of an army major in the film 'Prahaar,' also took a personal step by funding an 11-year-old girl's education whose father, Amreek Singh, was a casualty in the shelling. Overcome with emotion, Patekar distributed Rs 42 lakh in aid to 117 families grieving losses or damages from the conflict.
Operation Sindoor, a series of missile strikes by the Indian military, was a counter-response to the devastating April terror attack in Pahalgam. As Patekar advocated for community support to alleviate the burdens of border families, his NGO continued adopting army goodwill schools, aiming to uplift educational standards in the region.
