Heavy rain disrupted Dussehra festivities in Delhi on Thursday, drenching effigies of Ravan and forcing the cancellation of events attended by high-ranking officials like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
The downpour damaged effigies, which were later set ablaze with difficulty in front of other officials. BJP's Arun Singh had to step in as chief guest for the events as Shah was unable to participate.
Rainwater flooded event grounds, complicating celebrations. Committees struggled to protect the structures and resorted to using petrol and diesel in vain attempts to ignite the effigies, highlighting the challenges posed by unforeseen weather.
