Tragedy Strikes During Idol Immersion in Agra

A tragic incident unfolded during an idol immersion in the Utangan river, Agra, as two persons drowned and six others went missing, officials reported on Friday.
The mishap occurred in Khairagarh on Thursday when nine individuals slipped into deep water. Although locals managed to save one, the bodies of Gagan, 26, and Ompal, 32, were later retrieved.
According to District Magistrate Arvind Mallappa Bangari, local divers, police, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are relentlessly searching for the remaining six missing persons.
Investigations revealed that the group had disregarded a designated site for the immersion and ventured to another area of the river.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his sorrow for the lost lives and extended his condolences, as per an official press release from Lucknow.
