Renowned Assamese singer and musician, Zubeen Garg, tragically passed away on September 19, by drowning near a Singaporean island, contrary to initial reports claiming a scuba diving mishap. The Singapore Police Force has confirmed that there was no foul play in the incident, as per a report requested by the Indian High Commission.
Following Garg's untimely demise, his manager Siddhartha Sharma and festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta were arrested in Delhi and transferred to Assam. They face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal conspiracy, and causing death by negligence.
While the Assam government has appointed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the circumstances surrounding Garg's death, his widow, Garima Saikia Garg, expressed trust in the investigation and hopes to uncover the truth about her husband's final moments.
