Bollywood Stars Takedown AI-Generated Content on YouTube
YouTube removed hundreds of AI-generated videos mimicking Bollywood stars after a lawsuit by Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan. The couple challenged AI-generated content infringing their rights. Despite a court order, similar videos remained on YouTube, leading to the deletion of the channel in question.

In a major crackdown, hundreds of AI-generated Bollywood videos have been removed from YouTube following a report by Reuters. The videos, garnering 16 million views, were at the heart of a legal battle initiated by Bollywood power couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, aiming to safeguard their intellectual property rights.
The Bachchans have prompted a New Delhi judge to ban the creation of AI videos that breach their IP rights and to review YouTube's AI training policy. Although a judge ordered the removal of several YouTube links last month, Reuters found numerous similar videos still accessible, including those with inappropriate AI manipulations.
YouTube confirmed the removal of a channel identified in the report, which housed 259 videos seen 16.5 million times. While YouTube claims to delete manipulated and misleading content, AI-generated videos displaying intimate scenarios with celebrity likenesses continue to surface, prompting the couple to seek $450,000 in damages.
