Transferred from Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad in 2013, Kusha was a cherished resident of the Tirupati zoo. On Tuesday, zoo officials announced his demise, recounting a series of unfortunate events that led to the tragic outcome.
The jaguar accidently got entangled during his climb and, despite immediate intervention from zoo staff and the veterinary team, he couldn't be saved. An autopsy from SV Veterinary University determined that Kusha died of Hypervolemic Shock and Asphyxia, caused by the entanglement. His presence had captivated zoo visitors for nearly a decade.
