The Odisha government has announced plans to restore and convert Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore's historic residence in Puri into a museum. The decision followed a high-level meeting led by Suryavanshi Suraj, Minister of Odia Language, Literature and Culture.

Known as 'Pather Puri', the property once served as a hostel for students before falling into disrepair. Historian Anil Dhir noted that Tagore's family donated the land to promote education. The house is believed to have inspired some of Tagore's renowned literary works, including parts of 'Gitanjali'.

The state, aiming to preserve the region's rich cultural heritage, will also involve INTACH for conservation efforts. Additionally, preserving the Kalidas Temple and progressing on the Odia Ashmita Bhavan in Bhubaneswar are among the cultural initiatives planned to celebrate Odia literature and heritage.
