The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has mandated the removal of various scenes from the upcoming Malayalam film 'Haal', citing concerns about religious and cultural sensitivities. The movie, featuring Shine Nigam, had scenes depicting beef biriyani consumption and dialogues related to 'dhwaj pranam'.

The CBFC granted an 'A' certificate but with specific modifications required. In a letter to producer Juby Thomas, it outlined necessary changes, including removing a song sequence where the character Maria uses Muslim attire for disguise and excisions of court documents and dialogue offending Christian sentiments.

Displeased with the CBFC's delay in clearing the film, producer Juby Thomas and director Muhammed Rafeek petitioned the Kerala High Court. They argue the board's delay, without explanation, infringes upon their freedom of expression rights. The court is now set to review the case on October 14.
