In a devastating incident, at least eight people lost their lives while several others sustained injuries following an explosion at a fireworks unit in central Thrissur's Mundathicode on Tuesday.
The blast occurred at a shed where firecrackers were prepared for the Thrissur Pooram festival. Rescue operations continue amidst challenges posed by intermittent explosions, with several injured in critical condition. Coordinated efforts by the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority and other departments are underway.
A magisterial-level inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the explosion. The state's Chief Minister and Health Minister have directed comprehensive medical support be provided to victims.
