The Kerala High Court has ruled in favor of the Vadakkumnathan Temple advisory committee, permitting them to install advertisement boards for the Thrissur Pooram festival.

This decision overturns the Cochin Devaswom Board's earlier refusal. The board had been criticized by the committee for an alleged discriminatory stance, claiming similar permissions were given for other festivals.

Despite the court's decision, this year's festival will be a subdued affair following a tragic incident in a Thrissur fireworks unit. Traditional activities commenced on April 20 with the ceremonial flag hoisting.
