A Royal Appeal: NYC Mayor Urges King to Return Iconic Koh-i-Noor

During a recent event, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani proposed to King Charles III the return of the iconic Koh-i-Noor diamond to India. The meeting occurred during the King's state visit to the United States, where he addressed Congress and attended a state dinner.

Mamdani and King Charles crossed paths at the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. At a prior press conference, Mamdani had indicated his intention to bring up the matter of the famed diamond, which has long historic ties to India.

The Koh-i-Noor diamond, part of the British crown jewels, currently resides at the Tower of London. India remains steadfast in its pursuit of reclaiming the diamond, a matter it raises continually with the UK government.
