Dr. Anand Nadkarni, a prominent psychiatrist and social activist, died after a prolonged illness, as confirmed by sources from the Institute for Psychological Health (IPH), Thane. He was 67 years old and had been hospitalized in Mumbai.
Born in Maharashtra, Dr. Nadkarni was instrumental in bridging clinical medicine with social welfare. In 1990, he founded the IPH, fostering mental health awareness and rehabilitation with a team of over 70 professionals. His contributions extended to literature, authoring 17 books translated into various languages, impacting cultural and educational sectors.
His colleague noted Dr. Nadkarni's efforts in making mental health accessible across all social strata. Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde lauded his boundless energy and dedication, highlighting his legacy in the field of psychiatry and social welfare.
