In a strategic move to address challenges facing the Tamil film industry, veteran actor and politician Kamal Haasan held a meeting on Saturday with Tamil Nadu's newly elected Chief Minister, Vijay. Other urgent requests included a production incentive of up to 10% for films predominantly shot in Tamil Nadu, the abolishment of a 4% Local Body Entertainment Tax, formation of a specialized anti-piracy unit, allowance for five daily cinema screenings, and an eight-week exclusive movie theater release window before OTT availability. Kamal Haasan's outreach comes after Chief Minister Vijay's recent induction, signaling a potential new phase for Tamil Nadu politics and cultural policy reforms.
