The West Bengal government's new directive to incorporate 'Vande Mataram' into morning assemblies in all state-run schools has been lauded by the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP). Describing the decision as a liberation of the national song, VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal emphasized its historical role in India's freedom struggle.

Bansal highlighted that 'Vande Mataram', composed in Bengal, has been figuratively 'in bondage' over the past 75 years due to community pressures. The move by the new BJP administration aims to reaffirm the song's importance in students' daily ritual and academic life.

The directive follows recent national directives to emphasize respect for national symbols, reflecting an assertive stance in public discourse. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari affirmed the mandate's immediate implementation, ensuring every school head enforces participation prior to class commencements.
