Former vice president Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday termed Narendra Modi as the most popular prime minister of India and praised Union minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's political journey at the launch of his book 'Apnapan.'

Naidu described Chouhan as a grassroots leader who remained spotless during his 17-year tenure as Madhya Pradesh chief minister. He praised Modi's decision to appoint Chouhan as agriculture minister, citing his vision and passion for the nation.

Speaking about Modi, Naidu appreciated his efforts in transforming the Padma awards and popularizing Indian greetings globally. The event witnessed participation from former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, who emphasized Chouhan's farmer-centric politics and his association with Modi.

Naidu also criticized 'freebie politics' while highlighting the impact of global conflicts on rising fuel prices, urging people to understand the larger economic context.
