Ayodhya Hosts Thousands to Celebrate Ganga Dassehra with Vibrant Traditions

Ayodhya lit up with the glow of thousands of lamps for the celebration of Ganga Dassehra. The event, filled with traditional rituals and devotional music, attracted a massive turnout of devotees who gathered along the banks of the Saryu River.

Following a tradition dating back 125 years, a grand aarti was performed with 11,000 lamps, and an engaging sant samagam and phool bangla were conducted at the riverbank. Devotees experienced spiritual upliftment through Vedic chants and bhajan-kirtan.

Ayodhya Mayor Girish Pati Tripathi noted the significance of Ganga Dassehra, explaining that special provisions for security, cleanliness, and illumination were made at the ghats to accommodate the large crowd. He highlighted beliefs associated with the day, asserting that participating in rituals like bathing and donating can rid a person of sins.

Shashikant Das, leading the Saryu Aarti Sthal, remarked on the special arrangements, including a tableau of the Saryu River and a beautifully adorned flower-decorated structure, as seers extolled the river's divine nature. This festival is rooted in the legend of the river Ganga's descent to Earth, symbolizing a day of spiritual significance in India, offering liberation from sins.
