A devastating incident occurred at Kashyapi Dam in Nashik, Maharashtra, where four individuals, including two teenagers, drowned during a family outing. The tragedy unfolded on Tuesday evening, casting a shadow over the picnic plans of Sachin Kailas Thombre, his wife Rohini Thombre, their toddler daughter, and two neighbor boys, Ketan and Kaushal Pawar.
The family had visited the dam, constructed on the Kashyapi River, a tributary of the Godavari. Although the reasons remain unclear, all except for the two-year-old fell prey to the waters. A passing woman, Sangita Ghadge, noticed the toddler edging perilously close to the dam. Her quick intervention saved the child, who cried out for her parents, spurring a distressing search by local villagers. After some time, they retrieved the bodies of the Thombre couple and the Pawar siblings from the dam. Identified through Rohini's mobile phone, it was revealed that she was pregnant. Authorities have categorized the case as an accidental death while investigations continue.
