Cage Fights on the South Lawn: Celebrating Independence with a Punch
A metal arena on the White House's South Lawn is set to host a night of UFC cage fights for the 250th U.S. independence anniversary. President Trump, celebrating his 80th birthday, teams up with Dana White for the event, attracting thousands of spectators, including military personnel.
An imposing metal structure has been erected on the White House's South Lawn as President Trump undertakes several construction initiatives. One of these, a mixed martial arts (MMA) arena, is being prepared to host a UFC night, marking 250 years of U.S. independence.
The UFC event is scheduled for June 14, coinciding with Trump's 80th birthday. UFC President Dana White, a Trump ally, will oversee the bouts held in "The Claw," an octagon-shaped cage within the arena. More than 4,000 spectators and military personnel are expected to attend.
Viewing areas on the Ellipse aim to accommodate an additional 100,000 people. The event underscores Trump's historical support for the UFC, dating back to its early days in 2001. Alongside the arena, Trump is initiating other significant projects, like the $400 million state ballroom and the Independence Arch.
