Historic Tensions Resurface Over Melnyk Exhumation

Russia expressed formal protest against Luxembourg for exhuming the remains of Andriy Melnyk, a Ukrainian nationalist leader, categorized by Moscow as a Nazi collaborator from World War II.

On Monday, Melnyk was ceremonially reburied alongside his wife near Kyiv after being exhumed. The service was conducted with full state honors.

Moscow's Foreign Ministry, through spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, communicated that the reburial was perceived as disrespectful to millions of Nazi Germany's victims.
