International Team Rescues Gold Prospectors from Flooded Laos Cave
Five people were rescued from a flooded cave in Laos, with two still missing, after being trapped for over a week while prospecting for gold. An international team of volunteers joined the operation, including veterans from Thailand's 2018 Tham Luang cave rescue.
In a daring international rescue operation, volunteers successfully extracted five gold prospectors trapped in a flooded cave in Laos. The operation, carried out on Saturday, saw Thai and international rescuers joining forces to save those trapped for over a week in Xaisomboun province.
Rescuers initially found the five Laotian nationals on Wednesday but could not immediately extricate them due to the cave's rising waters, leaving them in perilous conditions until the successful operation. Two more individuals remain missing as the search continues.
Volunteers from Thailand, along with divers from multiple countries including Finland and Australia, joined the rescue. Among them were veterans of the 2018 Tham Luang cave operation in Thailand, bringing invaluable experience to the mission.
