Coal India Limited (CIL) has entered into a landmark agreement with AM Green, marking a significant step in global renewable energy initiatives. The contract, which aims to supply 4500 MW of carbon-free power, is set to become one of the largest renewable energy projects worldwide, underscoring India's commitment to a sustainable energy transition.

Formalized through a non-binding memorandum of understanding on May 7, the initiative will harness both solar and wind energy. CIL plans to develop between 2500 MW to 3000 MW of solar capacity and around 1500 MW to 2000 MW of wind capacity across India, with a total investment of Rs. 25,000 Crores. This venture aligns with India's national goals towards achieving a cleaner energy mix, with potential project sites located in sunny and windy regions, respectively.

As part of the project, AM Green, supported by Greenko Group's founders, aims to integrate the power supply into pumped hydro storage solutions, securing a consistent flow of green energy. The collaboration not only emphasizes India's net-zero emission goals but also AM Green's target of 5 million tons per annum of green ammonia by 2030, contributing to global environmental targets.
