Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel conducted a comprehensive review of the state's preparedness in border regions on Friday. During a video conference with district collectors and police superintendents, Patel issued urgent directives concerning evacuation, civil defense, and communication strategies.
The session, held at the State Emergency Operation Centre in Gandhinagar, saw the participation of Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi, and top officials from defense forces and various state departments. Patel ordered all control rooms and emergency centers to operate continuously, highlighting the need for alternative communication tools like satellite phones.
Patel also instructed that evacuation plans be activated for border villages, urging the district administrations to identify safe shelters and ensure availability of essential supplies. He emphasized the significance of civil defense measures and healthcare support while advising on the stockpiling of essential commodities. Key focuses included strengthening surveillance, evaluating warning systems, and curbing misinformation through official government channels.
