On Friday morning, authorities in Ambala district issued an urgent air warning following intelligence from the local Air Force station. The Deputy Commissioner of Ambala confirmed that sirens have resounded throughout the city, urging residents to remain indoors and avoid balconies or terraces as a precautionary measure.
To enhance public safety, the Deputy Commissioner enforced a complete blackout across the district, effective from 8 PM to 6 AM. In a similar move, Chandigarh also sounded air sirens after receiving an alert of a potential attack from its Air Force station, echoing the precautions taken in Ambala.
The Chandigarh Deputy Commissioner stated, "An air warning has been received from the Air Force station of a possible attack. All citizens are urged to stay indoors and avoid balconies." Simultaneously, the Indian Army successfully repelled multiple drone attacks by Pakistan along the western border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir during the night of May 8-9.
The Indian Army issued a statement saying, "On the night of May 8 and 9, Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and munitions along the entire Western Border. Numerous ceasefire violations (CFVs) were also noted along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. These drone attacks were effectively repulsed and answered with force." On Thursday, the Indian Army intercepted over 50 Pakistani drones during counter-drone operations near the LoC and International Borders, according to sources from ANI.
Additionally, the Indian Armed Forces neutralized attempts by Pakistan to execute a large-scale drone and missile assault on Indian military installations in Northern and Western India on the night of May 7-8. India responded to Pakistan's actions following "Operation Sindoor" on May 7, involving missile attacks on sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, targeting terrorist infrastructures linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack on April 22.
