Amidst growing tensions between India and Pakistan, Indian oil companies have moved to allay fears of a fuel shortage. On Friday, state-owned giants like Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) issued statements affirming their abundant fuel reserves.
The assurances come in response to a surge in panic buying, triggered by social media posts depicting long queues at petrol stations. The fear was largely fueled by recent military tensions and reports of attacks along India's western border states, primarily impacting regions like Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab.
The oil companies reiterated that their supply chains were operating smoothly, emphasizing that there's no need for public anxiety or unnecessary stockpiling. They urged citizens to remain calm, assuring them of continued access to petrol, diesel, CNG, and LPG across their nationwide networks.
