In a heartfelt gesture, Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, visited the strife-torn region of Poonch to express his condolences to families devastated by the recent cross-border shelling.

Abdullah stressed the necessity of extending sympathy and support during such trying times, asserting, 'It's our duty as individuals to stand with these families during their hour of need.' Offering solace, Abdullah reiterated his administration's unwavering support.

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister inspected a government hospital in Poonch, meeting civilians injured by the intense shelling from Pakistan. He enquired about their wellbeing and assured victims of full support from the state administration. Among those he comforted were families who lost loved ones, including the bereaved family of Amrik Singh.

Meanwhile, India expressed its indignation over Pakistan's breach of recently agreed ceasefire terms. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri condemned the violations witnessed after an agreement on cessation of hostilities was reached between the two nations.

Misri emphasized India's stern stance on the ceasefire breaches, stating, 'We take very serious note of these violations,' as tensions resurfaced across civilian regions, with Jammu's Rajouri district reporting extensive damage from shelling.
