On Monday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized the urgency for the Indian central government to convene an all-party meeting in the wake of a ceasefire declaration between India and Pakistan. Speaking to reporters, Siddaramaiah expressed that the ceasefire agreement was in place and the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) were scheduled to meet. He stressed that such a significant decision warranted prior discussions in Parliament and an all-party consensus.
The call for a meeting came on the heels of a joint press conference held at the National Media Centre, where senior commanders from India's Army, Navy, and Air Force detailed the successful outcomes of Operation Sindoor. During the briefing, the Indian military issued a stern warning to Pakistan, indicating swift and decisive retaliatory measures should any further hostilities arise.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, aimed at retaliating for last month's deadly attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists. The operation involved targeted air, land, and sea strikes against multiple terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir, effectively damaging Pakistan's military infrastructure. Meanwhile, CM Siddaramaiah clarified that most Pakistani nationals in Karnataka had been repatriated, except for a few children whose situation remains unresolved due to family circumstances at the border.
