In the wake of the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad, the late Vijay Rupani, former Chief Minister of Gujarat, received a dignified farewell at the Ramnathpara crematorium in Rajkot. The funeral procession began at 5 pm from his residence, culminating in the 'agni sanskar' ceremony at around 6 pm.

Rupani's remains were air-transported from Ahmedabad to Rajkot, arriving from the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital mortuary by early afternoon. In homage to his political stature, his body was draped with the Indian Tricolour, while a hearse adorned with 2,000 kilograms of flowers prepared to transport the former Chief Minister's remains.

Rupani was among 241 victims in the ill-fated Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash, confirmed via DNA testing.
