Diarrhoea Outbreak in Cuttack: Schools Shut and Health Advisory Issued

A sharp increase in diarrhoea cases has been reported in Cuttack district, tallying 64 confirmed patients to date. Of these, 55 are under treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital, while nine others are at City Hospital, Cuttack. Alarmingly, one life has been lost due to the outbreak.
In reaction to the escalating situation, authorities have ordered the closure of all educational institutions in Cuttack district until June 20 as a safety measure. Meanwhile, Dr. Tapan Kumar Mishra, a senior consultant at City Hospital, raised concerns about patients prematurely discontinuing their treatment.
Furthermore, Dr. Mishra has strongly advised the public against consuming street food during this sensitive period. Additionally, Director of Public Health, Odisha, Dr. Nilakantha Mishra, reported a surge of over 200 cases in Jajpur district, urging residents to remain vigilant and adhere to health guidelines.
