Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a significant achievement on Thursday as the state government successfully completed a major eviction drive at Hasila Beel in Goalpara. Nearly 495 acres of government-notified wetland, encroached for years, were reclaimed in this operation, emphasizing Assam's dedication to preserving its natural ecosystems while maintaining lawfulness and fairness.

Alongside this development, CM Sarma distributed appointment letters to 400 Medical and Health Officers at a ceremony in Guwahati. With these new appointments, the current administration has now provided a total of 1,20,359 government jobs to the state's youth. The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of addressing the disparity between the demand for and supply of medical professionals, which has motivated the expansion of medical institutions across Assam.

Presently, the state's 13 operational medical colleges produce around 1600 doctors annually. Sarma emphasized plans to establish 29 new medical colleges by 2030 to ensure better healthcare access, particularly in rural and remote locations. He also noted the inauguration of 4962 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs as part of a transformative health sector journey to strengthen primary healthcare services in Assam, aligning with Prime Minister Modi's vision.
