India is poised to celebrate the 11th International Day of Yoga on June 21, with nationwide events marking the occasion. With the theme, 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' the celebrations will include a mass yoga demonstration at over 100,000 locations nationwide, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Visakhapatnam.
Yoga, rooted in ancient Indian tradition, promotes physical and mental well-being and symbolizes unity. The United Nations recognized June 21 as Yoga Day in 2014, following India's proposal, aligning the observance with the summer solstice to highlight harmony between nature and humanity.
The day emphasizes prevention over cure, supported globally by India's Ministry of AYUSH. Participation has surged from 9.59 crore in 2018 to 24.53 crore in 2024, showcasing yoga's universal appeal. This year's theme reflects the interconnectedness of health and sustainability, resonating with India's G20 vision.
