In a significant stride for the 'Make in India' initiative, the Marhowrah Diesel Locomotive Factory in Bihar is set to export 150 Evolution Series ES43ACmi locomotives. Integral to Guinea's Simandou iron ore project, this collaboration with Wabtec underscores a landmark deal valued at more than Rs 3,000 crore, marking a pivotal expansion of India's railway manufacturing capabilities on the global stage.

According to officials, the plan includes exporting 37 locomotives in this fiscal year, followed by 82 in the next, and 31 in the third year. Each locomotive, featuring an AC cab, will be fitted with advanced specifications. Paired in operations, two locomotives will haul 100 wagons efficiently, challenging permissible speed limits.

The Marhowrah facility boasts tracks of broad, standard, and Cape gauge, tailored to support diverse international manufacturing and testing demands. The project, secured through global competitive bidding, highlights India's engineering excellence. These state-of-the-art locomotives come equipped with cutting-edge technologies including 4500 HP engines, AC propulsion, regenerative braking, and sophisticated controls.

Designed to meet stringent emission standards, these locomotives also feature modern amenities like ergonomic crew cabins, complete with fridges and microwaves, enhancing crew comfort. Additionally, they employ DPWCS for improved synchronization in freight handling, positioning the Marhowrah factory as an export hub, boosting local employment and advancing technological skills.

The export promises significant infrastructure development for Guinea's largest iron ore project, strengthening India's economic ties with Africa. This move exemplifies Atmanirbhar Bharat, promoting India's capability for innovation and quality manufacturing on a global platform.

Currently, the Marhowrah factory offers direct employment to 285 individuals, while indirectly supporting over 1,215 jobs. Across the nation, more than 2,100 people are employed within the joint venture, spanning services and auxiliary operations, as part of this ambitious project. (ANI)
