In an inspiring address at the 107th Convocation Ceremony of the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) in Secunderabad, Professor Himanshu Rai, Director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore, urged graduating officers to embrace character and ethical leadership across both military and civilian sectors.
Highlighting the transition from a VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous) world to a 'BANI' (brittle, anxious, nonlinear, incomprehensible) framework, Professor Rai emphasized the evolving challenges brought by global geopolitics and artificial intelligence. He advised the graduates to see AI as a tool rather than a threat, stressing the importance of being adaptable.
As the Chief Guest, Professor Rai encouraged the young officers to cultivate bravery, adaptability, networking, and introspection, a mindset he dubbed 'BANI 2.0'. He called on them to focus on controllable aspects, interact with diverse perspectives, and pursue passions beyond professional titles, thus aligning with their societal and environmental responsibilities.
