Congress leader Supriya Shrinate criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday following US President Donald Trump's repeated assertion of intervening in India-Pakistan tensions. Trump's claim of brokering peace between the two nations strained relations, with Shrinate demanding transparency from Modi regarding their phone conversation.
Adding to the controversy was Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir's presence at a White House luncheon with Trump. Congress MP Jairam Ramesh expressed dissatisfaction, emphasizing the detrimental impact on Indian diplomacy. Ramesh criticized Munir's historical inflammatory remarks linked to terror attacks, raising questions on US-Pakistan military ties.
Further complicating matters, Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi condemned Trump's meeting with Munir, arguing it highlights Pakistan's military dominance. Chaturvedi cited the irony of Trump's Nobel Peace Prize intentions juxtaposed with his association with a figure tied to regional violence and terrorism.
