In a significant operation, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in Mumbai intercepted a Nigerian woman suspected of smuggling narcotics from Delhi. Acting on particular intelligence, the authorities followed the woman for 50 kilometers before stopping her at night and discovering illicit substances hidden in food packets.

The DRI reported finding 2.56 kilograms of methamphetamine and 584 grams of ecstasy tablets, with a market value of Rs 5 crore. A subsequent operation led to the apprehension of the intended recipient of these drugs. The Nigerian national has been detained under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is ongoing.

In another incident, the DRI detained a Chadian national smuggling gold from Addis Ababa by hiding 4,015 grams of gold in his slippers. Valued at Rs 3.86 crore, the gold was seized under the Customs Act, exposing an attempt to evade duties. Similarly, a case in April involved an Indian national caught with gold bars worth Rs 1.91 crore at Delhi airport.
