Manipur police reported that the region experienced a relatively calm 24 hours, marred only by a shooting incident in the Bishnupur district, according to a press release. On Thursday around 3 PM, an unknown assailant shot Ningthoujam Biren Singh, a farmer, in his left arm while he was tending to his paddy field at Phubala Maning.

After initial treatment at Bishnupur's District Hospital, Singh was referred to RIMS Hospital in Imphal, where his condition is stable. In response to the attack, security forces initiated a search operation in nearby areas, including Langchingmanbi, Heichanglok, and western Phubala village.

Security forces encountered gunfire from unknown attackers and returned fire. Tragically, a villager from Langchingmanbi, Mrs. Hoikholhing—wife of the local village chief—was killed in the crossfire. Her body was taken to Churachandpur District Hospital for legal procedures. Investigations are underway, with cases filed related to these events.

Authorities are enhancing efforts to apprehend those responsible, promising justice swiftly. Security will be tightened around farming zones to prevent similar incidents. The public is urged to remain peaceful and refrain from spreading rumors. Security forces continue area operations, focusing on vulnerable border zones and emphasizing farmer safety.

In recent operations, security recovered several weapons and ammunition, including a modified .303 rifle, grenades, and various ammunition types from Heibonglog hill in Imphal West District. Additional updates will follow as investigations proceed.
