Union Minister and BJP MP Sukanta Majumdar has accused 'TMC-backed' criminal mobs of attacking him in the Budge Budge area of Diamond Harbour in Kolkata. Majumdar lamented the West Bengal police's alleged inaction and labeled the incident a direct threat to democracy.
In a post on 'X', Majumdar expressed dismay over the state police's failure to prevent or respond to the disorder. He stated that even when a Union Minister and sitting MP was targeted, the authorities remained passive, calling it a severe breach of parliamentary privilege.
Majumdar, who faced brick and shoe pelting allegedly by Trinamool Congress workers, plans to report the incident to the Home Ministry and criticized the participants as being part of a wider, chaotic demonstration purportedly supported by foreign nationals.
